If a photo captures part of your essense…

… then there’s a part of me over there in the navigator.

Though I’m not superstitious, you must realize that I’m not big on pictures. Even this little thing requires me to get over something of a distaste for photos of myself. At least it’s not a portrait, something for which I have a distinct dislike.

It goes deeper than just photos of myself. If you look at both my digital photos and my collection of prints I’ve assembled over the years, you’ll find that the overwhelming majority of them feature just about any subject except for people. I’ve made some notable exceptions with my family because I want to document our life together, but really, I’d rather take a close up photo of a plant or try to capture a landscape. Strangely, this is reversed when it comes to video; I’ll have to dive into the psychology of that some time.

Anyway, this self-image is the result of a brief flash of creativity with a camera phone, then some touchup on the PowerBook. (And yes, that’s the Jabra headset I wrote about some time back.)
