Iraqi elections must not be delayed

While the voice of dissent on whether Iraq should hold elections on time gained a powerful supporter in Ali al-Sistani, many Iraqis want no part of postponement.

Three of seven items in today’s Iraqi Press Monitor talk about the upcoming elections, and all three of them speak strongly against delaying them. Muhammed Abdul Jabbar of the daily independent Al-Sabah puts it best; “The equation is as follows: conducting elections is costly but postponement is more costly.”
