Further, Polipundit explains why it <a href=\"http:\/\/polipundit.com\/archives\/2004_08_22_polipundit_archive.html#109330627065284538\">doesn&#8217;t matter<\/a> if Bush condemns the attack ads.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, via <a href=\"http:\/\/instapundit.com\/archives\/017330.php\">Instapundit<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/comments.php?comments_id=511\">American Thinker<\/a> notes the &#8220;startling&#8221; apparent confession of a link between the Democratic Party and MoveOn.org,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthlaidbear.com\/archives\/2004\/08\/23\/bush_denounces_527s.php#001358\">N.Z. Bear<\/a> agrees with Drummond,<\/li>\n<li>Reader <a href=\"http:\/\/instapundit.com\/archives\/017330.php\">Brett Billmore<\/a> thinks it&#8217;s campaign censorship (and is rather unhappy), and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerlineblog.com\/archives\/007575.php\">Power Line<\/a> is critical, calling the move &#8220;smart&#8221; but not &#8220;principled.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have a clear opinion on campaign finance reform. Honestly, this is the first time I&#8217;d considered this issue, but the results are obviously not pretty.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, I agree that this was a bold move on Bush&#8217;s part. Between his oft-repeated call on the Kerry campaign to denounce attack ads &#8211; as yet unanswered &#8211; and Kerry&#8217;s stubborn refusal to actually answer the charges made by the Swift Boat vets, there&#8217;s a distinct possibility that Kerry will lose some of the independent and veteran votes.
