A little while ago I caught my first glimpse at an ad telling me to Start Something.

It was from Microsoft: “With a world of software and devices that run on Windows, you have the power of choice.”

But, how can I Start Something when all I have to choose from is the tens of thousands of absolutely, stunningly craptacular applications and devices built on Windows?

And why is the video on the Start Something PC site so, um, devoid of actual content?

There may be a few truly great Windows applications that were built to do things that people want to do. I just haven’t found them, yet.
